Christopher Corso

Biography

Christopher Corso – observer, director, painter.

With his camera – a Canon 5D Mark III – Christopher Corso roams urban spaces in search of faces, attitudes and moments that make the fragmented nature of the big city visible. The passers-by he observes – sometimes captured in passing, sometimes approached directly and led into specific poses – become part of an artistic experimental set-up. Strangers become allies, encounters become narrative miniatures. Corso does not create his pictures alone – they are created in exchange with those who are willing to trust his precise vision of expression and atmosphere.
Back in the studio, a meditative process begins: photographs are printed out, moved around on the floor and composed in ever new constellations until an inner order becomes perceptible. Only then does the painterly realization on canvas begin. His works capture not only the external appearance, but also the emotional echo of an urban reality characterized by speed, allure and loneliness.
In Corso’s work, fleeting moments are condensed into silent allegories of city life. His painting makes the invisible visible – and the fleeting permanently relevant.
